I have no problem with the census. I'm happy to fill out my little form and mail it in so the government can make sure Colorado has the right number of congressmen.
But today in the mail I got a letter from the Census Bureau. It wasn't the Census. It was a one-page letter that said, essentially, "Keep a look out for the actual Census which you'll receive in about a week."
How much do you think it cost our government to send these out? How necessary are they? Do you really need to prepare yourself a week in advance to check your mail? Or to answer a few questions on a form? Isn't it insulting that the government thinks so lowly of its citizens? Bah!
Not to mention the tons of money they spent for the stupid tv ads during March Madness and on the radio. Or the little postcards that they send you after you receive your questionaire reminding you that you have a legal obligation to fill it out and return it.
ReplyDeleteKyle! What are you doing here? I didn't know you read my blog.
ReplyDeleteI'll admit, I don't get here often. For one thing, it's bookmarked on the computer that I rarely log on to.
ReplyDeleteActually, what I should have said was that I have a man crush on you and have been stalking you for the last three years since we roomed together. Anyway, I'll have to remember to bookmark this on the computer that I use more often....and the collective blog that recently launched.
I think you should...if you haven't already...blog on the silly made up words and letter combos you have to type to protect the comments from automated programs. ingsly sounds like an adjective of some sort that you would hear playing the game balderdash.
Has anyone ever told you that your screening of comments is like Chinese censorship? Just kidding. I'd do the same thing, though probably for different reasons.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that I have the blog set so that I have to approve comments on posts that are more than two weeks old. If you comment on a recent post, I'm pretty sure I don't have Chinese-like censorship. :)
ReplyDeleteI also think I might have blogged about the "make sure you're not a robot" words you have to put in before you can leave a comment... but I don't remember. A lot of times in the comment someone leaves they'll mention what their "word" was and make up a silly definition for it.
You're a cool guy. Thanks for commenting. It's nice to know who's reading my rambling.
Also, if you just use a feed-reader like Google Reader or something then you don't even have to bookmark it. Just subscribe and every post will be put right into your reader. Then you only have ONE place to check!
